How to Build Your Semester Schedule

I’m someone that likes routine. Routine makes me comfortable and calm. It’s soothing. College is the first time in most people’s life (and last for some) where there is a lot of free time, and you may find yourself making poor choices on how to spend it.

Step one: Get a template

Print one and fill it in, use another website, ical, or google calendar.

Step two: Block out the classes

Plug in all your classes. You can choose to do this all in one color, or you can make each class a different color. It’s totally up to you. I prefer different colors.

Step three: Schedule your shifts.

If you work, plug in the times of your shifts.

Step 3: Schedule your bed time.

I know this seems insane, but you will feel so much better if you have a regular bed time and wake-up time. Trust me.

Step 4: If you are in any clubs, greek life, sports, etc. Put those in the schedule too.

Step 5: If you value your health, schedule time at least 3-4 days/week for a workout!

(Optional) Step 6: Schedule your study time. I personally prefer to just study whenever I have time, but if you have a really busy schedule, you might be better off scheduling set times.

(Optional) Step 7: Schedule meals and specific times to hang out with friends.

Congrats your schedule is done. Now you just have to stick with it!
